This week in class we will be finishing our novel Loser, and completing our first informative essay. The students are pen pals with Mr. Hickey's class from Oster, and they will be working on a letter to them. They will also be using past vocabulary words to write a holiday story. We have few holiday projects in the making, and we will have a cornerstone presentation on Wednesday. In science, they will have their end of the unit test on Thursday. Emma and Carol will be presenting their current events. The holiday party will be on Friday, beginning after recess. They will be exchanging gifts in between recess and lunch, and then having hot chocolate and watching a movie after lunch. I hope you all have a safe and wonderful holiday!

This week in class we will be working on an informative essay about the pros and cons of a job the students select. We will begin researching Monday and hopefully be writing by Tuesday. I'm very excited to start these and the kids seem pretty motivated by the topic. On Tuesday, they will be taking a Social Studies test on Chapter 6, which is about the first settlements in North America. In math, we will continue to be adding and subtracting fractions with like and unlike denominators. Be sure to check in with your child for understanding. The only way to have a friend is to be one. We are also continuing to read Loser. Ask your child about it, it's a great read! Josh and Caden will be doing their current events. This Friday will be our first clay project! Woohoo! Thank you Mrs. Bachman for taking the lead on this. There may be a little holiday fun this week as well:)
Holiday Gift Exchange The students decided on a secret gift exchange for our holiday party. Friday, December 18th the students will be exchanging gifts. Each child was given another student to buy for. They should not spend more than 10 dollars on it and it can be dropped off anytime before the 18th. The givers name should not be written on the present, just clues to who they are. We are going to try to guess who has who. If you do not want your child to participate or have trouble getting the present please let me know I always get extras. Have a great week! |
