Last week we finished our first module in math. Woohoo!!!!! We will be multiplying multi digit numbers. I have added a some links to the website that should help with the math. There are videos to help parents and examples. Please use it if you are having trouble helping your child in math. In Social Studies, we will be learning about the explorers and their motives for exploring. The students will taking their narratives and working on a powerful introduction. There will be a wordly wise test on Friday. Compassion is going to be our word of the week. I will be asking the students to explore this word and how they use it in their lives.

This week in class we will be working on dividing decimals. This is the last section in the first module. There will be a end of module test on Friday. It is a difficult test, so please check in with your child. There will be a practice test sent home for homework on Thursday night. In social studies, we will be wrapping up our unit on Native Americans. There will be a test on chapter 2 and 3 on Thursday. The students started writing a narrative last week, which we will continue to work on this week. On Wednesday, the students will be taking the Cornerstone survey if they turned in their permission slip. On Tuesday, there will be an assembly for character day, which is on Thursday. We will be exploring the different character traits hat make up a good person.
This week in class the students will continue to work with words in lesson 2 of wordly wise. They will be tested on Friday. Our grammar focus will be compound and run-on sentences. They will also begin writing a narrative, which is our first genre of writing. I am excited to see what kind of writers I have! In math, the students will continue to learn about decimals. They will be adding, subtracting, and multiplying them. If your child does not know their math facts, this could be a hard topic for them. Please help your child by practicing at home, if they do not already know them. Next week, they will begin dividing, which is the hardest of the operation. Native Americans are still our focus for social studies. Have a wonderful week!
I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend!
This week in class, the students will continue working with rounding numbers with decimals, and we will begin adding decimals. There will be a mid module test on Thursday. In social studies, we will be moving on to Native Americans. The students will be receiving their current event date this week as well. Please be on the look out for that. On Thursday last week I got trained on the new ELA pilot. I will begin to explore this and be using it to guide my language arts time. However, the students will continue to use wordly wise, and we will still read our novel Rules. Hope I can fit it all in:) Hope you all have a wonderful week. |
