This week we started a reading challenge. I have challenged the students to read at least 5 books by the end of the year. I will be giving them more class time to read, and they get to choose whatever book they want. The only way to improve reading is to read more!!! We will also be reviewing in language arts and math for the SBAC that begins next week. Can't believe it's here already. In math we will be exploring shapes and starting to work with graphing. The students will be doing their last art vistas project on Tuesday, and their clay title piece for the school wall on Friday.

Wow! What a great week we had last week. Science camp was a blast! This week the students will be spending quiet a bit of time working on their state report. The thinglink is due this Friday and it is probably the hardest part of the report. There is a lot of research required and we will be spending time going over how to find the information needed. I have cut back the amount of homework, so that they can focus on finishing it. In math, we are exploring volume and shapes this week. The students will also be writing their first opinion piece, which is our next genre on writing. Things are moving fast and we only have a couple weeks before state testing. In science, they will be learning about solubility and chemical reactions.
