SBAC testing starts this week. We will begin the ELA portion on Tuesday and it will go until Friday. Next week, we will begin Math and end on Friday with Science. Testing will be in the morning and be finished by morning recess. Please be sure your child is well rested and well fed. I will try my best to create a positive non stressful environment for the next couple of weeks!
We are in the middle of reading a novel Bud, not Buddy, which the children really seem to be enjoying. They also started researching a jazz musician, which goes with the book. In math, we will be review topics most of the week, as well as adding some new topics we feel would be helpful for the math portion of SBAC next week. This is the final week for the last rotation of science. There will be an end of unit test on Friday. Then we will begin reviewing 4th and 5th grade science.

I hope everyone had a great spring break! On Monday, we are lucky to have a special pressure and vacuum demonstration in place of Science. In language arts we will be reading several non fiction articles that will help us start our new genera of writing, which is opinion writing. We will also continue to focus on commas. Our new novel will be Bud, not Buddy. One of my favorites! Area and perimeter will be the focus for math this week, and we will be begin reviewing for the SBAC. In social studies, the students will be learning about the different battles and turning points that led to the victory of the Revolutionary War.
