Language Arts
Book Club. Our rotations are finished for this first theme. Our next genre will be historical fiction and our focus will be on the American Revolution. This will go along with our focus on the American Revolution for social studies. We will start our next Book Club rotation after science camp. We are also exploring the concept of inference again this week. Students will also be reading from our Scholastics Storyworks this week. This week, we will also be continuing to work with Nonfiction Signposts from our Notice and Note reading strategies. These strategies will help students with non-fiction comprehension and critical thinking. Math This week, we are FINISHING module 3 with lessons 15 and 16. There will be a review on Thursday and a test on Friday. American Revolution Simulation Students will be taking part in Walk through the American Revolution, a simulation that takes place here at school on February 8 at 11:30 a.m. Students will spend the next few weeks practicing their team's battle scenes at school and preparing props. They will also have their own individual parts to play, which they should memorize at home before performing their SMALL part during the simulation. Social Studies We will be studying the development of the colonies and the lead up to the American Revolution in the next few weeks. Friday, January 18 ~ No school.
