This week, on Wednesday, we will have a guest speaker coming in to read to our class for Read Across America. This is a great program and I'm excited to see who we get for a guest speaker. On Friday, we will have another wonderful Art Vistas presentation:)
The students have been working very hard on their President reports and it's in the home stretch. The glogster is due Wednesday, and the letter and drawing is due Friday. If they are using their time wisely in class, they should not have to do any of it at home. Some will need to do it for homework though. In math, we will be starting volume, and I am piloting a new math adoption for this unit. The homework and class work will look very different. There will be a social studies test on Friday and the students will be starting their last science unit on Monday. Ask your child about their new class. There will be a math benchmark on Monday, and an ELA benchmark on Tuesday. The students do not need to study for this. If you have not already done so, please sign up for conferences here https://standridge5.wikispaces.com/Conference+Schedule Hope you all have a positive week!!!

What a great experience! I'm so proud of how our Walk Through turned out. The kids did such a great job! This week we will be doing a mock debate between loyalists and patriots. In math we will be dividing fractions. We are still reading Indian in the Cupboard and working on main idea. The end of unit test for Science will be on Friday, so please be sure your child studies for their section. It's Walk Through week! I'm so excited for you all to experience this great program. If you get the chance come by and watch, it is amazing! Thursday from 11:30-2 in room 20. Please be sure you are practicing with your child, and if you need help with a costume let me know.
The students will be taking a social studies test on Tuesday and a math test on Wednesday. We will be finishing up multiplying fractions. They will also be starting a president report, which will be done in class. Just a heads up if the Broncos win the Superbowl there will be no homework for the week. The kids negotiated that one:) Our word of week is a good one and I will be spending quite a bit of time on it this week. Compassion. This world needs way more of it! Go Broncos! |
